Sometimes water leaks aren’t so obvious. Some quick checks you can do include checking your taps and toilets regularly for signs or sounds of leaks, placing a small piece of dry toilet paper at the back of the toilet bowl and checking that it stays dry until the next flush and look for green patches of grass that are different from the surrounding grass. You can always call us if you are unsure.

Drains can be blocked by a number of items with toilet paper or sanitary products being the obvious ones, or things like toys, tree roots, cooking oil and even a collapsed drain can all cause blockages.

We advise to avoid placing anything unnecessary down a drain such as cooking grease and food components. We recommend using a drain strainer, only flushing toilet paper, pouring boiling water down the kitchen drain and having regular pipe inspections.

You can absolutely try by using either a plunger or drain cleaner. However don’t wait too long to call us if the drain remains blocked as blocked drains can inadvertently results in damage to your home.

We start with a plunger, followed by removing any obvious obstructions. Otherwise if the
obstructions aren’t obvious, we can use a hydro jet blaster to remove any obstruction.

Smelly drains can be caused by food build up, mould, grease and oils and even old pipes.
You can try cleaning the drain through a natural remedy such as one part baking soda, one part vinegar and hot water, however if this doesn’t work then call us as the smell can possibly be something more sinister.
